HOW THE PROJECT STARTED
This is a collection of sketches drawn in Tiratanaloka, Wales. Most of the drawings were made at the Ethics Retreat in November 2025, when I had the idea of creating a collection of prints showing the corners and shrines of this magical, beloved place.

The retreat was very quiet and peaceful. There was hardly any chatter in the communal areas between scheduled periods of silence. Many people had experienced difficult journeys to get there.

On the day the retreat started, severe weather conditions in Wales had caused flooding, affecting roads and trains. Many people had stressful and delayed journeys, and some found themselves in extremely dangerous situations. Stories of traumatic experiences were shared, leaving everyone feeling moved and shocked.

Together, we took refuge in the Three Jewels and practised Metta. Looking at these drawings reminds me of the many moments of silence, peace, inspiration and devotion I experienced, and of the deep joy I felt while drawing.

Dedicated to the team at Tiratanaloka who has supported so many women in their path to ordination.
